Idukki: Udumbanchola MLA and former minister MM Mani has expressed strong opposition to the appointment of amicus curiae Harish Vasudevan in the cases pertaining to alleged land encroachments in Munnar. Mani likened his appointment to “entrusting the key to a thief.”

The CPM strongman accused Harish Vasudevan of working against the interests of the people in the upland, branding his actions as “criminal.” The MLA further called for a reconsideration of the High Court's decision.

Earlier, CPM Idukki district secretary CV Varghese criticised Harish, labelling him a “hypocritical environmentalist.” He said Harish cannot be trusted and suggested an “international conspiracy behind the petition” against construction in Munnar.

Harish Vasudevan, an advocate and environmental activist, was appointed as amicus curiae by the Kerala High Court after it halted construction of buildings with more than three floors in nine panchayats, including Munnar, in Devikulam taluk.
