Kochi: Ananthu Krishnan, accused in the half-price scam case on Sunday, alleged that the National NGO Confederation was formed under the instructions of K.N. Ananda Kumar, executive director of Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust. He also claimed that money was given to political leaders as part of the scam.

Ananthu made these claims while speaking to the media after completing evidence collection at the National NGO Confederation’s office near Ponnurunni in Vyttila. He further alleged that SIGN, an organisation led by BJP leader A.N. Radhakrishnan, was responsible for executing the scheme.

He also responded to reports regarding a ₹46 lakh payment to Congress leader and co-accused Laly Vincent. According to Ananthu, money was transferred to politicians through benami transactions. The police have reportedly secured documents proving these financial dealings. Investigators obtained crucial information while questioning Ananthu and his accountants.

The police have initiated the process to confiscate land purchased by Ananthu in five locations using fraudulent money. Similarly, ₹4.25 crore in bank accounts will be freezed. The steps taken under the bye-laws of the NGO Confederation are expected to be decisive in the case, with Ananda Kumar and others likely to be named as accused.
