Kochi: Kerala High Court has rejected the bail application of KN Ananda Kumar, chairman of the National NGO Confederation, in connection with the half-price scheme fraud. While accepting the argument of Crime Branch that Ananda Kumar was aware about the activities of National NGO Confederation, which had offered scooters to people for half price, the Kerala High Court observed that it was unbelievable to think that Ananda Kumar was unaware about the fraud behind the half-price scheme offered to people.
Anandakumar, Founder and Executive Director of Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust, was arrested by the police in connection with the half-price scheme fraud case. The arrest was made based on a case registered against him in Ernakulam district.
While arguing his bail plea, Kumar claimed he had no involvement in the half-price scheme scam. He claimed that the money was directed to the trust and he had not taken any amount personally. However, the police contended that Kumar had prior knowledge of the scheme.
Several cases and complaints are also pending against him in Thiruvananthapuram. Crime Branch is planning to charge more cases against Kumar, it is reported.
