Thiruvananthapuram: The National Highway Authority may approve the Kerala government’s demand to estimate the value of structures that would be demolished for Greenfield Highway, by considering the age of the properties. The state government will submit a request letter seeking approval from the authority within 2 days. The letter is awaiting revenue minister’s nod. 

Mathrubhumi had reported that at least 5600 buildings will be affected if the government estimates the value after evaluating the age of these structures. 

The price range fixed for the land acquisition for the Greenfield highway has been lower than the actual price of land. Besides this, the estimation of price of structures by evaluating the age of the buildings will end up in considerable loss for the property owners. 

The compensations for demolishing buildings were fixed without considering the age of properties for the expansion of National Highway 66. The owners had received a double value for the demolished structures then.
