Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of a controversial circular that prevented media persons from entering the Supplyco outlets, Food and Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil said there is nothing wrong in taking visuals with prior permission, adding that, however, many coming in the guise of online media are destroying the image of the Supplyco.
“Everyone claiming to be from the media cannot be allowed to enter Supplyco outlets. But many come posing as online media. There is nothing wrong with capturing footage after obtaining prior permission. Entering the premises without prior approval can destroy the Supplyco,” said Anil.
The controversial circular, barring media persons from entering the Supplyco outlets and capturing images, was issued by Supplyco MD Sriram Venkitaraman on Wednesday.
The circular says that Supplyco faces tough competition from retail chain giants and that any intentional move to tarnish its image will adversely affect its business. So, no outsiders, including media persons, should be allowed to take visuals without permission inside the outlets. Furthermore, the circular stipulates that Supplyco staff should refrain from giving interviews.
