
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday wrote a letter to Union Minister of Science and Technology Harsh Vardhan seeking to abandon the move to give Golwalkar’s name for the new Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) campus here.
Pinarayi Vijayan also urged Harsh Vardhan to give the name of a renowned Indian scientist.
The CM pointed out that by backing off from the move to give Golwalkar’s name for the institution, RGCB’s reputation and it would put an end to the controversies.
Political parties including CPI (M) and Congress had come out sharply against the move to give Golwalkar’s name for the new Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) campus. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala had sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to abandon the move.
