Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: In a heartbreaking incident in Kadakkavoor, an 11-year-old girl lost her life after the auto-rickshaw she was travelling in overturned when a stray dog suddenly jumped across the road.

The deceased, Sakhi (11), a Class VI student of S.S.P.B.H.S. School, Kadakkavoor, was returning home with her parents after a PTA meeting when the accident occurred. Her father was driving the auto-rickshaw.

The incident took place around 3:30 PM on Tuesday near Prabhat Junction, close to the Kadakkavoor Overbridge. A stray dog suddenly ran across the road, causing the auto-rickshaw to lose control and overturn.

All three occupants were seriously injured and rushed to the Chirayinkeezhu Taluk Hospital. Unfortunately, Sakhi could not be saved.

Her mother sustained a spinal injury, while another co-passenger, a woman from Mampally, suffered a collarbone fracture. Both have been shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for further treatment.

Sakhi’s body is currently kept at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College mortuary.
