Kannur: The manager of the Thiruvananthapuram–Mumbai Garib Rath Express that runs between Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli) and Mumbai's Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), captured photos on her mobile phone of two individuals allegedly preparing to hurl stones at the Vande Bharat Express near Kannur, leading to the swift identification by Railway Police.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening as the Garib Rath Express(Train No. 12202) was passing Kallai station, near Kozhikode. The Vande Bharat Express (20633), travelling in the opposite direction from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram, was on the adjacent track when Suma Chellath, the train’s manager from Dharmadam, noticed two people standing near the tracks holding stones aimed at the oncoming train.

Suma quickly took a photo from the moving train and sent it to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) control room, while also alerting the station master through a walkie-talkie.

Railway authorities have praised the manager’s prompt response, which helped prevent potential damage and aided the investigation. The RPF confirmed that, based on the photograph provided, officers were able to identify the suspects involved in the incident.
