Chengannur: A man accused of immigration fraud and was on the run from authorities for the past nine years was apprehended by the police on Monday. 

The arrested individual is Yusaf (43), hailing from Vallathol Nagar Panchayat in Thrissur, and is accused of embezzling Rs 50,000 from a Kollakadavu native promising Visa to a Gulf country. 

Venmony Police registered a case against Yusuf in 2014. However, the accused went into hiding, and the court declared him a fugitive in 2020. 

The police zeroed in upon the accused after extending their search to various hideouts in Malappuram, Thrissur and Palakkad districts.
