Nedumbassery: For the second consecutive year, the Cochin International Airport Limited  (CIAL) has achieved the milestone of handling one crore passengers. According to the officials, from January to December 2024, a total of 10,985,873 passengers traveled through Kochi airport. 

In December 2024, CIAL has also set a new record by handling over 10 lakh passengers. This is the first time in its history that the airport has handled over a million passengers in a single month. A total of 1,018,874 passengers traveled via CIAL in December.

To attract more airlines and passengers, CIAL has implemented various plans with the goal of reaching 1.25 crore passengers. Last year, domestic passengers were the primary users of CIAL, with 5,765,943 people traveling domestically through Kochi. Meanwhile, 5,219,980 passengers traveled internationally. Except for February, March, and June, every month had over 9 lakh passengers traveling through CIAL, and in December the number of passengers has gone over 10 lakhs.

Between January and December 2024, CIAL handled a total of 74,876 flight services, including domestic and international services with domestic services dominating with 48,408 services.

The Indian aviation sector is expected to grow by 16%, and CIAL is implementing plans to accommodate this growth, said Managing Director S. Suhas. He also mentioned that the efforts to start more services in both the domestic and international sectors have been successful, and the positive results are reflected in this period.
