Mavelikkara: Police arrested a woman and her acquaintance, who allegedly swindled 5 lakh from a Mavelikkara native. 

According to the case, Chadayamangalam native Bindu (41) with the help of Irinjalakuda native Reneesh (35) duped herself as a medical student pursuing MD in Cardiology. Later, she allegedly befriended the Mavelikkara native, gave him a false marriage promise and embezzled Rs 5 lakh from the complainant in the guise of meeting expenses of studies. 

Police said that Bindu’s son Mithun Mohan is also involved in the case, but he is on the run now. After being separated from her husband, Bindu along with her son and Reneesh has defrauded many and swindled money, said police.

Bindu and her friend were identified and arrested when they arrived at the cyber police station in Kollam in connection with another case. A Kottayam native has also lodged a similar complaint against the accused, police said.
