Thiruvananthapuram: A serious offense has come to light involving a government official who allegedly swindled approximately Rs 28 lakhs from funds designated for school children's mid-day meals. Dileep D Dinesh, a clerk at the General Education Directorate, was accused of stealing the money on different occasions using forged documents.

Between March 2022 and December 2023, Dinesh had siphoned off a total of Rs 27,76,241 into his personal bank account from the Mid-day Meal Scheme's nodal account. He accomplished this by fabricating and printing false payment advices via the Canara Bank CSS Portal.

Apart from this, he misappropriated Rs 42,300 from the Mid-day Meal Scheme’s account at the SBI Jagathy branch using a forged signature of an Administrative Assistant on February 23. 

A complaint in this regard was filed by the General Education Department Senior Administrative Officer after detecting the same.
