Palakkad: A complaint has been registered stating that the producer did not return the money spent for filming. A Muhammad Sharif, who sells fish in Palakkad's Akathethara, and Sreekumar Raghunathan, a native of Kollam, who works abroad, complained to the police that they had spent about Rs 1 crore on the production of a Malayalam film that was about to be released recently.
The complaint is that the producer, who is a native of Karimba and a resident of Akathethara, keeps walking away when he demands the money back. Muhammad Sharif said in a press conference that he has filed a complaint with the district police chief seeking action to get back the Rs 70 lakh he had paid. Muhammad Sharif said that he filed a complaint at the Hemambika Nagar Police station, but no action was taken, so he filed a complaint with the district police chief. Muhammad Sharif's lawyer N Anil Kumar said that if there is no action from the police, he will seek legal recourse. The police complaint was lodged by Sreekumar in Kollam.
Hemambika Nagar Police said that no case has been registered on the complaint yet. The producer says that there was a financial crunch after the screening of the film hit a roadblock. The police said that the producer has been asked to come to the station to talk about the issues mentioned in the complaint
