Kottayam: In an unusual case, three people were arrested for allegedly stealing a 2-sovereign gold chain from a housemaid residing in Aymanam here. Ashik Antony (31) and his wife Neha Ravi (35) and Arjun (22) who live in a rented house in Ernakulam have been arrested in connection with the case.

The alleged incident took place on October 16. The woman was working as a maid in Ashik’s house. There were some payment arrears for which the accused offered the TV in his house as he did not have money in hand. 

Both parties agreed to this proposition and the woman also agreed to pay an additional amount of Rs 8000, after deducting the wage arrears. The next day, Ashik, Neha, and Arjun came to the woman’s house to install the TV. During this time, they allegedly stole the gold chain kept in a room there.  

The Kottayam West police registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the woman. Ashik and his wife, who were absconding, were caught from Palani while Arjun was nabbed from Ernakulam.
