Kochi: Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the Kerala government to go ahead with the translocation of Idukki's wild rogue tusker Arikomban. The government should either translocate Arikomban to Parambikulam or an alternative place within one week, the court noted. The court cannot turn blind to the concerns of the affected people, it noted.
The remarks came while the court was considering the Nenmara MLA K Babu’s review petition against its order o directing the translocate of wild tusker 'Arikomban' from Idukki to Parambikulam.
The court rapped the government for issuing title deeds in areas in elephant corridors and batted for ensuring a proper environment for wild jumbos. “Cagging elephant is not a solution,” it highlighted.
The court also detailed why wild jumbos encroach human settlements and criticised people's representatives for creating misleading the public.
