Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a case against Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. The Kochi office of the ED charged the case as per Prevention of Money Laundering Act. A document in this regard was received by Mathrubhumi News.

Mathrubhumi News obtained a letter forwarded by assistant director to the registration department on September 11 seeking information regarding the assets owned by Bineesh Kodiyeri. It is also stated in the letter that a case has been registered against him.

It is directed in the letter that the properties of Bineesh should not be transacted without informing the ED authorities as he is suspected to have committed crimes as per section 16,17 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Earlier, the ED had interrogated Bineesh on September 9 and released him later. This was based on the statement that he is the director of a visa stamping company which is related to the gold smuggling case and he received a share of profit.
