According to available information, investigators are also planning to summon more CMRL officials in the coming days as the inquiry continues.

Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is likely to summon Veena Vijayan, daughter of Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan, for a second round of questioning in connection with the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL)-Exalogic financial transactions case.
According to indications from the agency, a fresh summons is expected to be issued soon.
Veena was questioned for more than eight hours at the ED's Kochi office on Wednesday. Sources said investigators are seeking further clarification on several issues, with some of the responses given during the initial questioning reportedly considered unsatisfactory.
Questions over services allegedly provided to CMRL
During the questioning, investigators reportedly sought documents to establish that services had been provided by Veena's company to CMRL.
According to reports, Veena said discussions had been held directly with CMRL representatives and that she had offered guidance through those interactions. She also stated that Exalogic, the company linked to the transactions, is no longer operational and that she does not possess any additional records relating to the services allegedly rendered.
The ED's inquiry is understood to be examining issues similar to those highlighted by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), which concluded that payments had been made despite the absence of identifiable services.
ED examining use of ₹1.72 crore
Investigators have also sought details on the utilisation of ₹1.72 crore received from CMRL by Veena and Exalogic.
According to sources, she was unable to provide specific details regarding how the funds were used.
The agency also questioned her about a loan extended to Exalogic by Empower India Capital Investments Private Limited (EICPL), a non-banking financial company operated by CMRL Managing Director Sasidharan Kartha. Officials said the explanations provided on this aspect were also not sufficiently clear.
SFIO records under review
The ED is expected to obtain and examine supporting documents attached to the charge sheet filed by the SFIO in the case.
Officials are likely to review those records before conducting another round of detailed questioning.
As part of the probe, the ED has already questioned CMRL Joint Managing Director Saran S. Kartha, director Jaya S. Kartha and Shibi Kartha.
According to available information, investigators are also planning to summon more CMRL officials in the coming days as the inquiry continues.
