The agency has also insisted on Veena’s personal appearance, rejecting her request to submit documents through her lawyer, signalling a more direct line of questioning

Kochi: T. Veena appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in the CMRL–Exalogic transaction case. She reached the ED office in Kochi around 10:30 a.m., accompanied by her husband, P. A. Mohammed Riyas, MLA. He later left the premises.
The ED had initially directed Veena to appear on 12 June. However, as she was unable to do so due to health reasons, she was instructed to appear on 17 June. The agency rejected her request to submit documents through her lawyers and issued a fresh summons, requiring her personal appearance. Veena has been asked to provide documents clarifying the alleged payments received from the black sand company.
In the same case, the ED on Tuesday questioned Sharan S. Kartha, Joint Managing Director of the company, and Jaya S. Kartha, wife of the Managing Director and Director of CMRL and Empower India Capital Investments.
According to reports, they submitted financial transaction records covering the past 15 years, as requested by the ED in advance.
