Malappuram: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials conducted inspection at the Green Valley Academy in Manjeri after an NIA probe suggested that the banned organisation Popular Front of India (PFI) is allegedly receiving international funds via various trusts to carry out terrorist activities in the country.

A team of ED from Delhi arrived at Green Valley office by 4:30 PM on Tuesday evening. Two officials of the Indian Bank had also accompanied the team as witnesses to the incident. Both the CRPF and the police provided security to the entire team.

The NIA had supposedly received clues on the links of an academy under the Green Valley Foundation with the PFI. Several secret activities and campaigns of PFI are rumoured to have happened at the academy. The religious organisation was accused of raising funds for extremist activities in the disguise of trust’ money. The ED officials had demanded documents regarding the financial transactions of the trust during the inspection.

The trust supposedly has over 10 hectares of land, educational institutions are built on it as well. ED officials left the office late on Tuesday night, after thoroughly verifying several documents pertaining to the land and other belongings of the academy. It is believed that the move from ED aims at dismantling the financial source of the academy, following the ban imposed on PFI recently. More details are awaited.

It should be noted that NIA had initiated legal action against the Green Valley Academy under the UAPA Act when the academy was allegedly known to have nourished extremist activities. It is said that NIA is keen on pledging the properties of the academy.
