Kannur: CPM leader P P Divya, accused in the suicide case of Kannur Additional District Magistrate Naveen Babu, attended the farewell ceremony with clear planning and intent, says police remand report.
The report indicates that Divya committed the act with a premeditated mindset, raising concerns about her intentions.
Organizers of the farewell function had issued a statement alleging that Divya was not invited to Naveen Babu's farewell event. Furthermore, witnesses noted that attendees vacated their seats when she arrived. During her speech, Divya claimed she learned about the ceremony en route and insisted she attend it.
Divya is described in the remand report as a prominent public activist, a member of the CPM district committee, and the president of the district panchayat, with strong connections to those in power. The report also suggests that Divya, having absconded without cooperating with the legal system, may intimidate witnesses.
Witnesses expressed fear of retaliation from Divya against them and their families. If granted bail, there are concerns she could influence witnesses and undermine the legal process.
