Thiruvananthapuram: Police have recovered crucial evidence against Sukant, a colleague and the main accused in the death of an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer in Kerala. Investigators have found significant details from a Telegram chat between Sukant and the young woman, which strongly suggest that he drove her to take her own life.

According to the chat logs, Sukant told the woman to “go and die” and even asked her when she planned to do so. He also said she should leave, implying that her absence would allow him to marry another woman.

The chats are as follows:
Sukant - I don't want you.
Young woman - I have no interest in living on this Earth.
Sukant - Only if you leave can I marry her.
Young woman - What should I do for that?
Sukant - You should go and die. When will you die?
Young woman - I will die on August 9.

The police were able to recover only a few parts of the Telegram chat between the IB officer and Sukant from examining his phone. His iPhone was seized by the police from a rented room in Chavakkad owned by Sukant's relative. Information suggests that Sukant had stayed in this room the day before going into hiding. Subsequently, during a search conducted by the police here, the iPhone was recovered.

When did the incident happen?

On March 24, the body of an IB officer from Pathanamthitta was found on the track near Thiruvananthapuram Petta railway station. In connection with this, the Petta police registered a case against her colleague, Sukant Suresh, a native of Edappal, Malappuram. However, even two months after the young woman's death, Sukant remains absconding. Following the incident, Sukant had been dismissed from the IB.

The police had charged Sukant with crimes including abetment to suicide. After finding that the young woman was a victim of sexual assault, a rape charge was also included. Meanwhile, the police have not yet been able to apprehend the accused.
