Pathanamthitta: Nair Service Society faced factional troubles on Friday as six members walked out of a meeting in protest of the decision of Sukumaran Nair, the general secretary of NSS. The walkout was led by Adoor taluk unit president Kalanjoor Madhu over the alleged attempt to remove him from the director board.
However, Sukumaran Nair vehemently denied any division within the organisation, stating that the allegations against him are baseless. According to him, Madhu engaged in activities against the organisation, and the NSS is well aware of this. He refuted the accusations of corruption in the construction of the convention centre in Perunna, asserting that the claims about undervaluation are false. He said that the government's fair value for the land in that area stands at Rs 15 lakh.
Sukumaran Nair stated that the accusers' motive is to remove him from the position of general secretary. He noted that the community stands by him and stressed no scandals have been associated with him. He also dismissed the allegation of nepotism in appointing relatives to positions within the organisation.
Madhu, Prasanth P Kumar and others walked out of the representatives' meeting and claimed that there is a lack of democracy within NSS.
Meanwhile, MLA and former minister KB Ganesh Kumar has been selected for the director board. Ganesh Kumar responded that he was not a replacement for Madhu.
