Thiruvananthapuram: Producer Suresh Kumar said he had expected that Dileep would be acquitted. He welcomed the verdict and stated that the entire film industry stands with the survivor. Speaking to mathrubhumi.com, he added that there had been attempts to falsely implicate Dileep, and he was happy that the actor was acquitted.

“I expected that the verdict would acquit Dileep. I called him this morning and told him that the judgment would be favourable. Everyone was tense while waiting for the verdict. What matters is that the truth has won—Satyameva Jayate.

I am extremely happy that Dileep has been freed. Our bond dates back to when he joined my film Vishnulokam as an assistant director. I have always known that Dileep would never do such a thing. He is not a person with such a mindset.

We welcome the verdict. Those who committed crimes were punished. This is a very remarkable judgment.

As Minister Saji Cherian said, the entire film industry is with the survivor. She has received justice. Justice should not come by trapping and punishing an innocent person.

The first time I visited Dileep was in Aluva sub-jail. Even back then, an officer had told me that he was being framed. This was a conspiracy carried out by some police officers along with a few people in the film industry. All that fell apart, and when it came before the court, it was proven wrong.

The trauma Dileep’s family endured over 8 years is unimaginable. I am someone who has been very close to the family. The children faced so many problems. They even had to study from Chennai. Dileep’s mother suffered a lot.

Despite everything, the strength he showed to survive came from God. Ramaleela was the first film he worked after the case, and it was a grand success. No one else could have withstood what he went through—financially, physically, and mentally, he was destroyed. Social media and TV channels celebrated for months. All of that has been proven wrong. At one point, someone named Balachandra Kumar came in trying to twist the case. That too failed—the truth has prevailed. Let Dileep’s life ahead be peaceful,” Suresh Kumar said.
