Kochi: The main organisers of the National conference of doctors, to be held in Ernakulam on Sunday are a diverse group of individuals. The event management for the Breast Imaging Society of India’s national conference ‘BCCon 2024’ has been entrusted to a group of differently-abled persons. 

The organisers belong to Day Dream, a differently-abled training centre in Edappally. People with disabilities between 15 and 35 years are trained here. Bijeesh Kannamkulam, who runs a software company, is the one who imparts necessary skills to these individuals. The members of the group are versed in modern technology, including the manufacture of power banks.

Dr Rijo and others, who are acquainted with these young people, first put forward the idea of entrusting the management of the conference to them. Some people have expressed their  doubts about whether they would be able to carry out this feat with over 200 doctors attending the conference. However, Rijo and Bijeesh’s strong convictions brought everyone into the fold.

Akhil Sajith, Kurian John, Brian Varghese, Adil Shaji, Subin Abraham and Maria Thomas are in the preps for the smooth running of the conference on Sunday. They are the ones who created and printed the registration QR codes for the conference. They have also made arrangements for scanning at the food counter and decorated the venue beautifully. The doctors are confident that their conference, managed by these differently-abled smart people will be a grand success.
