CPM apparently sidelined Bineesh Kodiyeri by refusing to renew his party membership, despite multiple recommendations from the local leadership.

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM has chosen not to renew the party membership of Bineesh Kodiyeri. Although Bineesh submitted an application, it was not taken into consideration. It is reported that even though the CPM Thiruvananthapuram District Secretary wrote to the AKG Centre four times requesting his application be considered, the plea was ignored.
Bineesh secured his party membership during his tenure as an SFI member. His membership was registered under the AKG Centre. However, he lost his membership in 2021 following his arrest in connection with a drug case.
Since 2023, Bineesh has been making efforts to return to the party and had submitted an application for the same. Key figures, including the CPM Thiruvananthapuram District Secretary V Joy, had sent letters requesting his reinstatement, but these letters were overlooked.
The issue sparked criticism during a recent Thiruvananthapuram District Committee meeting. Questions were raised during the session as to why the party continues to sideline Bineesh, especially when he actively defends and protects the party on platforms like social media.
