Kannur: The party members, right from the top brass to the common workers, should conduct serious self-criticism or the party will face grave consequences in the future, warned the CPM north zone election review meeting in Kerala. The failure to provide correct information from the branch committees regarding the votes polled in favour of the party is very serious, as the meeting observed.
According to the information provided by the party from the branch levels, the party would have won Kannur, Kasaragod, and Vadakara. But what happened was that the party suffered huge defeats in these constituencies as the margin of the UDF crossed over one lakh in all these constituencies. The leaders had failed to understand what was happening at the grass-roots level.
There are moles inside the party and both leaders and workers should be vigilant regarding the presence of such people. Their actions should be observed carefully, and disciplinary action should be taken once they are caught red-handed.
The internal affairs and the discussions that take place within the party are being consistently leaked to the media. Everybody should understand that the media stands opposite to the party. Leaders should be very careful so that the media does not get information from the party so that they can attack CPM. The party also warned those who are active on social media, as it has an immediate effect and damage control will be too difficult once a slip occurs.
State Secretary MV Govindan, while addressing the delegates who participated in the review meeting, said that the information that should be passed on to the public and party members would be done by leaders responsible through the media and public meetings.
