Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM has directed to collect maximum funds from government employees to meet the election expenditure. Left organizations like NGO union, KGOA and KSTA have been asked to raise Rs 15 crore for election funds. Based on this, CPM has asked the finance department to postpone the second phase of salary challenge.
The directions related to this were given at the party fraction which included service organisation representatives and CPM leaders. In the present financial circumstances, collecting funds from the public is no more possible.Observing this fact, CPM initiated action to raise funds through service organisations.
The Left unions have been collecting from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 per member for election funds. Gazetted officers have to give maximum share to the fund.
The employees reported that the unions will collect high amounts as individual shares to the election fund in districts like Malappuram where a low number of members are identified.
Some employees who are not CPM followers also joined the Left unions as service organisations. They are also liable to give their share to the election fund.
Meanwhile, CPM also asked the party members in the service organisations to give maximum share. At the same time, the employees expressed disappointment over the fund collection followed by the salary cut.
Intending to address the financial issues of the employees, the CPM Leaders have proposed an interest free loan scheme through employees’ cooperative societies. Earlier, the party has executed a loan scheme through cooperative society for the subscription of the party’ s newspaper.
