Former DGP Jacob Thomas has taken charge of the BJP’s internal probe into election fund misappropriation, questioning key figures police-style at the party headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.

Thiruvananthapuram: Former Director General of Police (DGP) Jacob Thomas IPS has been tasked with leading the BJP's internal investigation into the election fund fraud case. Employing a traditional police-style interrogation approach, Thomas questioned the accused and complainants individually in sessions that lasted for hours. The party's disciplinary committee, including Kummanam Rajasekharan, was also present during the recording of statements.
The questioning and recording of testimonies were conducted based on documents that have already surfaced regarding the financial irregularities. The sessions took place at the BJP state headquarters, Mararji Bhavan. Statements were recorded from several individuals, including state secretary Anjana Ranjith, who was recently relieved of her party responsibilities over the scam after audio clips involving her leaked into the public domain.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that no fund fraud had occurred and stated that no criticisms were raised regarding the issue during the core committee meeting held on Monday. In a press release issued on Monday, Chandrasekhar reiterated that there were no financial irregularities within the party.
