New Delhi: CPI general secretary D Raja on Monday demanded clarity regarding Kerala ADGP M R Ajith Kumar's recent meeting with RSS leaders in the state.
Speaking to reporters, Raja said that the CPI has requested a detailed report from its state leadership and will look into it deeply to understand the implications of the meeting between the senior police officer and the RSS leaders.
"The meeting between ADGP and RSS leaders has sparked significant controversy both within and outside Kerala. There is widespread speculation about why a senior police officer met with RSS leaders and what the context was. This matter requires a proper investigation to clarify the purpose of the meeting," Raja stated.
Earlier, CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam had raised the controversial issue with the Kerala Chief Minister, urging him to address concerns that could affect the government's political image.
Additionally, there was a discussion between the CPM and CPI party secretaries. The CPI has been assured that appropriate administrative actions will be taken against those responsible.
A few days back, Ajith Kumar, a close confidant of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, offered an explanation to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) that he had met with RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale in Thrissur last May, but clarified that it was a "personal visit".
While the Opposition Congress which had first raised allegations about the secret meeting, charged the top officer with visiting the RSS leader as a 'messenger' of CM Vijayan, the ruling CPM adopted a stand that there was no need for them to react on the matter as ADGP was not a party man.
