Thiruvananthapuram: Close on the heels of the political row kicked up by Minister Saji Cheriyan’s anti-Constitution remarks, it seems major differences have cropped up between CPM and CPI, the two major allies of LDF.
According to CPI leaders, Cheriyan’s remarks were improper and grave. A section of leaders made it clear that his statements are not justifiable. They pointed out that if someone approaches the court over his statement then it will end up in a blow. However, this is not the official stand of the CPI and yet the state leadership has not commented on it.
Earlier on Tuesday, CPM belittled Cheriyan’s remarks as a slip of tongue. CPM Pathanamthitta District Secretary told Mathrubhumi News that the minister was referring to the state of the people in the country and the media misinterpreted his words. Many CPM leaders publicly declared that Cheriyan do not have to resign from the position as demanded by the Opposition and critics of the government.
