Thiruvananthapuram: With the two-day holiday for liquor sale in the state, efforts are underway to resolve the technical snag in the virtual queue processing app BevQ. App developers Faircode and Bevco technicians are working on it with experts from outside.

Since liquor sale has to restart from Tuesday, bookings are to be received from Monday evening. The issues have to be resolved before it.

The programming errors in booking system caused loss to the tune of crores to the Beverages Corporation. Outlets that had sold liquor worth Rs 14 lakh before lockdown saw sales worth only Rs 8 lakh even with price hike after reopening.

Though 400 tokens are sold via app, only 250 consumers arrive in person to buy liquor. As the tokens are provided to faraway stores other than nearby outlets, there is considerable reduction in sale.

Complaints also arose on the lack of inexpensive liquor in bars which are available in Bevco outlets. Out of the inexpensive liquor stock arriving at the warehouses, 70 percent should be provided to own shops and only 30 percent given to bars.
