Kottayam: Minister P Thilothaman informed that strict restrictions will be imposed in the district after confirming 11 cases within last 2 days. He reported that only essential services will be allowed in the areas where COVID-19 cases are confirmed. Home delivery of essential items will be carried out.

Only medical stores will be allowed to function at hotspots.

“Hotspots were identified in the district after reporting 6 new cases the other day. Now, 5 more cases were reported on Sunday. In this backdrop, the government has decided to impose strict restrictions in Kottayam. Action will be taken for door delivery of food items to the poor people in the affected areas,” informed the minister.

COVID-19 tests will be carried out widely. The health department will collect 200 samples from various places for the test. The district collector is asked to take necessary action if there is shortage of test kits. The minister noted that financial problem will not interrupt the testing.

The minister also assured that water authority will take action to ensure water supply in all areas.

“Accommodation and other facilities will be given to the health care workers in the district hospital. Homeo and Ayurvedic preventive medicines will be distributed with the permission of related departments," added the minister.
