Coronavirus: Co-passengers of infected advised to contact health department


Pathanamthitta: Health minister K K Shailaja issued high alert in the state after Coronavirus infection was confirmed in 5 of a family from Pathanamthitta.

A father, mother and son who returned from Italy tested positive for the disease. The other two are close relatives of the three. All the five are admitted at the isolation ward in Pathanamthitta general hospital.

The minister directed the passengers who travelled in the flights with the three to report to the health officials.

According to reports, as the family did not share their travel hisotry, they were not screened at the airport. The minister stated that they were not ready to take medical test at hospital even after the health officials alerted them.

Details of the flights in which the infected travelled

They returned to Kerala by Qatar Airways flight QR-126 Venice-Doha on February 28. At 11.20 pm, the flight landed in Doha. They have spent about one hour and 30 minutes during their transit in Doha. Later, they boarded the Qatar Airways flight QR 514 Doha-Kochi and landed in Kerala on February 29 around 8.20 am. It is reported that they left home from the airport by a private car.

As the three travelled in Qatar airways flight, health minister directed the passengers who travelled in these flights to contact the health department.

People who have returned from Iran, Italy, South Korea, China must inform the health department, said Health minister.
