Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition MLAs Chandi Oommen and M Vincent led a midnight protest, blocking the Sreekaryam Police Station here. The protest was over not filing a case against the SFI leaders who allegedly beat KSU Thiruvananthapuram district general secretary Sanjos.

During the protest, there was a push and shove between Kovalam MLA Vincent and the police. Vincent also alleged that some SFI workers assaulted him when he got out of the car. He added that despite being assaulted in front of the police, no action was taken against the attackers.

Meanwhile, tension broke out between SFI and KSU workers after the news of Vincent being assaulted by the Left student federation activists reached them. Protesters later announced that the blockade was lifted at 2 am on Wednesday.

Sanjos, who is the KSU district joint secretary and a student of the campus, was beaten up allegedly by SFI workers. The complaint is that he was beaten under the leadership of SFI leader and Senate member Ajant Ajay. Sanjos, who came to the campus on Tuesday night, was taken to the hostel room by a group and beaten up. Some students then informed the police. Sanjos is currently undergoing treatment at the General Hospital.
