Alappuzha: All the affected ration shop traders in the state are approaching the court demanding payment of 10 months commission arrears for distributing food kits during the pandemic period.
Initially, six traders had moved to court and were granted their commission. In light of this, the other traders in the state are also approaching the court in hopes of their dues being cleared.
The traders are being brought together under the leadership of the All Kerala Retail Ration Dealers Association, which had first approached the court seeking commission. Its president Johnny Nellore, general secretary T. Mohammedali, and spokesperson C Mohanan Pillai informed that the procedures for the case will be completed on October 2 at the state executive meeting to be held in Thrissur.
The state government had moved to the Supreme Court against the high court’s order. However, the SC quashed the petition and ordered the implementation of the HC’s order. Even after this, the state continued to mull over the order. When the six complainants initiated a contempt of court plea against the state government, they received their dues of Rs 1,86,410.
