
Andhra Pradesh: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is visiting the site of the deadly stampede near the Tirumala temple in Tirupati, where six pilgrims were killed and 40 others injured. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening near the Vishnu Niwasam area, where pilgrims were receiving ‘darshan’ tokens.
Naidu is currently at the stampede site, closely monitoring the situation and speaking with officials. Following his visit to the site, the Chief Minister is expected to visit the Sri Venkateswara Ramnarayan Ruia Government General Hospital, where the injured pilgrims are being treated. His visit to the hospital was planned earlier as part of his efforts to provide support to the victims and their families.
The stampede occurred during the distribution of tokens for temple visits, and while one victim has been identified, the identities of the others remain pending. Authorities have promised a thorough investigation into the incident and have expressed their commitment to ensuring better management of such events in the future.
CM Naidu has expressed his dissatisfaction with the event's management and vowed to take necessary actions to prevent similar incidents. The TTD officials, including Chairman BR Naidu and Board Member Bhanu Prakash Reddy, have also expressed their regret and promised to conduct a detailed inquiry.
