Hyderabad: A 52-year-old woman from Palakkad, Nirmala, was one of six victims in a tragic stampede at the Tirupati temple. Nirmala, along with five relatives, had travelled to the temple for darshan on Tuesday when the incident occurred.
The stampede took place as devotees queued to collect tokens for the Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam, causing overcrowding and chaos.
Initially, authorities mistakenly identified Nirmala as a native of Karnataka, but this was later corrected. Her family was informed of her death only hours after the tragedy.
The family is now working to bring Nirmala's body back to her hometown in Vannamada, Palakkad.
