Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and ministers will organise regional meetings to review timely implementation of projects.

Meetings will be held in Kozhikode, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Thiruvananthapuram districts on September 4, 7, 11, and 14, respectively. These meetings aim to address district-specific challenges, expedite development initiatives, and find solutions to local issues. Subsequently, a meeting of police officers will be convened under the guidance of the CM.

On September 4, Kozhikode will host the regional meetings for Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, and Kozhikode districts. The meeting for Palakkad, Malappuram, and Thrissur districts will take place in Thrissur on September 7. Ernakulam will host the meeting for Idukki, Alappuzha, and Kottayam districts on September 11, while Thiruvananthapuram will hold the meeting for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta districts on September 14.

In preparation for the regional review meetings, district collectors will collaborate to compile the matters to be addressed at the district level by June 30. The reports will be prepared in three stages. Initially, assessments will be made on the progress of infrastructure development projects, welfare initiatives, and central projects. Subsequently, a workshop will be conducted, led by the district collectors, to identify various issues and challenges specific to each district.

During the second phase, the identified issues will be categorised into three groups based on their importance. The first category includes matters that require government-level decisions and can be resolved through discussions with different departments. The second category comprises issues solvable within the districts through coordination among departments and agencies. The third category encompasses common subjects that do not fit into the aforementioned groups. Secretary-level reviews will be conducted to examine the issues selected by the district collectors and determine the resolutions needed at the district and government levels.

In the third phase, taking place from September 4 to 14, the chief secretary and department secretaries will participate in the regional review meetings held in each region. These meetings will involve the chief minister and ministers, who will collectively make final decisions regarding the identified issues. Within 48 hours, official orders will be issued based on these decisions. Additionally, a software system will be developed to enable district collectors to submit district-level issues, monitor their progress with departmental secretaries, and forward them to the respective departments for necessary action.

Key concerns in Thiruvananthapuram district include:

  • Progress of land acquisition for projects such as national highway development, hill and coastal highways, national waterway, bypass, ring road, and flyovers.
  • Challenges faced by public institutions in the district, including schools, public health centres, hospitals, anganwadis, and civil stations.
  • Status updates and ongoing maintenance of various projects associated with the government's four missions.
