
Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has inducted six new dogs to its squad for detecting explosives at airports. It is reported that the service of the dogs which has served in CISF for 10 years expired in December. Among the one-year-old new dogs, five are Labrador breeds and one is Golden Retriever. Duke, Rocky, Cooper, Rider and Remo are the new Labrador dogs. Ivy, a female dog, is the one which belongs to the Golden Retriever breed.
The six dogs were inducted into CISF after seven months of long training at CISF’s Dog Training School in Ranchi. The new squad took part in the official parade at the airport on January 26 before joining CISF. The new squad will be in service for 10 years.
The dogs will be used for detecting explosives in flights and baggage of the passengers at the airport. Four hours will be the assigned duty hours for a group in the dog squad.
The six dogs will be housed in air conditioned rooms at CISF barracks in Muttathara.
A team of nine officials led by SI Rajan will be the caretakers of the dogs. CISF commander Sudheer Kumar informed that the dogs will be taken to sniff various explosives as part of the regular training.
