Thrissur: The charred remains of a yet-to-be-identified man were found inside an auto-rickshaw that was completely destroyed by fire in Peringavu here on Saturday. It's not known how the auto-rickshaw caught fire.

Around 2 p.m., residents of Gandhi Nagar street noticed the auto-rickshaw on fire. The fire force rushed to the spot immediately. After dousing the fire, the officials found a completely charred body in the backseat of the vehicle.

According to the police, it is a newly registered CNG auto rickshaw which runs on the Peringavu route that went up in flames. The investigation is ongoing. More details awaited.
