Kottayam: Congress leader Chandy Oommen MLA expressed his dissatisfaction publicly against the leadership regarding the failure to assign him any responsibilities related to the recently concluded Palakkad by-election.

He said that while responsibilities were assigned to everyone for the by-election, he was not given any tasks. He further added that he would not comment further on the matter at this time.

"While K. Sudhakaran and V.D. Satheesan are strengthening the party, the question arises whether there is a need to let anyone out," Oommen said.

He emphasised the importance of unity within the party, stating, "It is essential that we move forward together. If anyone is left out or excluded, it cannot be accepted. There is a situation where some are distancing themselves while others are being left out. However, this does not mean that the KPCC President should be changed. The right approach is to ensure that everyone is included during the reorganization of the party."

"Regarding the Palakkad by-election, responsibilities were given to everyone except me. I don't know the reason behind that. I’m not ready for further discussion on this issue, which is why I reached a position to go when the party calls me," he added.

Rahul Mamkootathil, 34, the state Youth Congress president, secured a huge win in the by-election held in the Palakkad Assembly constituency, becoming the youngest member of the Congress-led UDF opposition. In a highly competitive triangular contest, Mamkootathil achieved a margin of over 18,000 votes, with the BJP candidate finishing second and the CPM-backed independent candidate third.
