Kochi Metro pillar cat rescue faces challenges.

A cat stranded for a week atop a Kochi Metro pillar has triggered mounting concern and protests, as rescue efforts face mounting challenges. Fire and animal rescue teams have reached the site, but technical setbacks have complicated attempts to bring the animal down without delay.
Cat identified, search efforts intensify
In Kochi, efforts are under way to rescue a cat trapped on a Metro pillar for the past week. The animal, named Subhash, remains stuck at a considerable height, causing anxiety among animal lovers.
Authorities initially inspected the area around pillar number 385. During the first search, however, the cat could not be located.
The original plan was to carry out the rescue at night, after Metro services had ended. Officials had decided to switch off the power line and proceed once train movement stopped.
That approach has since come under scrutiny.
Visuals show weakened condition, protests begin
Fresh visuals have emerged showing the cat lying exhausted in a corner at the top of the pillar. The footage suggests the animal is in a weakened state.
After the images surfaced, calls for immediate action intensified. Members of the rescue team and animal lovers gathered at the spot and began protesting. They warned that unless the cat is brought down at the earliest, its life could be in danger.
The scene has drawn growing public attention, with repeated calls for swift intervention.
Rescue hit by technical snag
A fire force team from Gandhinagar has reached the location to assist with the operation.
However, the rescue mission has suffered a setback. The hydraulic lift required for the operation developed a fault, stalling the effort temporarily.
The operation will resume only after a replacement vehicle arrives at the site.
For now, teams remain on standby as the stranded cat continues to wait atop the Metro pillar.
