Kozhikode, Kerala: The death of two men inside a caravan in Vadakara has been confirmed to be caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.

An expert team from NIT Kozhikode determined that the toxic gas leaked from the vehicle’s generator, spreading into the cabin and causing the fatalities.

The two victims, Manoj from Malappuram and Joyel from Kasaragod, were found dead on December 23 in a parked caravan in Vadakara. Initial suspicions of a gas leak from the vehicle’s air conditioning system were later confirmed by the investigation. The carbon monoxide levels inside the vehicle had risen to a lethal 957 PPM within two hours.

Manoj, a driver for a tourism company, and Joyel, an employee of the same company, were returning to Ponnani after dropping off wedding guests in Thalassery. The bodies were discovered after local residents alerted the police about the vehicle being parked for an extended period.
