The car fell into Chaliyar river as the driver lost control of the vehicle while reversing onto the ferry

Kadalundi: A car plunged into the Chaliyar River while attempting to board the Jankar ferry from Chaliyam to Beypore. The vehicle, owned by Kuzhikkatt Muhammad Hanifa and his family from Chettippadi in Parappanangadi, lost control while reversing onto the ferry at around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
There were seven people in the car—three children, three women, and one man.
Passengers on the ferry, local residents, and the coastal police immediately launched a rescue operation and managed to save everyone inside the vehicle. A fire brigade unit from Meenchanda also arrived at the scene.
The rescued individuals were taken to a private hospital for treatment. Chaliyam Coastal SI P. Harish, along with K. Rajesh, P. Mithun, and Haris, led the rescue efforts. The car was later retrieved from the river with the help of a crane.
