Thrissur: A 40-year-old two-storey building collapsed here in Kodakara on Friday morning, killing three migrant workers from Bengal. The deceased have been identified as Rahul (19), Rupel (21), and Aleem (30).
The building, which housed 17 migrant workers, is believed to have collapsed due to heavy rainfall in the area.
Minister of Public Education and Employment V Sivankutty has directed the Labour Commissioner to conduct a detailed investigation and submit a report.
At the time of the incident, many workers had already stepped out for work. The ground floor gave way during the collapse.
The initial search was launched by the fire force and local residents. A JCB was later brought in to clear the debris and step up the operation.
