Kerala boy swallows tooth, lodges in lung; removed successfully via bronchoscopy.

Mundakayam (Kottayam, Kerala): A 10-year-old schoolboy in Mundakayam underwent a surgical procedure after accidentally swallowing a loose tooth, which became lodged in his lung. Specialists at Mar Sleeva Hospital successfully removed it using a delicate bronchoscopy.
The boy swallowed the tooth while brushing and immediately told his family. Initially, they believed it had simply passed into his stomach without any issues.
Two days after the incident, the child developed a persistent cough and fever. Alarmed by the symptoms, the family rushed him to medical specialists for examination.
Endoscopic examination uncovers tooth in bronchus
Doctors conducted an endoscopic examination and discovered that the tooth had become stuck in the right bronchus, part of the respiratory tract.
A fibre-optic bronchoscopy was performed to safely extract the tooth. Following the procedure, the child recovered fully and has returned home.
