Thiruvananthapuram: The district court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea filed by dubbing artiste Bhagyalakshmi and two others in connection with the case for manhandling Vijay P Nair, a YouTuber who had posted vulgar videos. Apart from Bhagyalakshmi, the bail pleas of Diya Sana and Sreelakshmi Arakkal also were rejected.

The court also harshly criticized Bhagyalakshmi and others. The law cannot be handled by physical strength. The accused engaged in a mean activity. The court is responsible for maintaining law and order and it cannot withdraw from this, the order stated.

The court also approved the government's argument opposing anticipatory bail. The cases booked against them include charges for manhandling and robbery which can lead to imprisonment of upto 5 years. The Prosecution had opposed granting bail when the plea was considered the other day.

Granting anticipatory bail will give wrong impression and motivate people to take laws into their hands, the prosecution pointed out. The court accepted this argument. A case has been booked against Bhagyalakshmi and others based on non-bailable offences. Police have not arrested them yet.

The police did not arrest them as the anticipatory bail plea was under consideration of the court. As the bail plea has been rejected, the accused can approach the high court. However, it is yet tobe seen if the police would wait till they can move the upper court.
