The nomination window remains open daily from 10 am to 4 pm until July 24, and the voting is scheduled for Independence Day, August 15

The race for the new office-bearers of AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) officially begins today as the process for submitting nomination papers opens. Elections will be held for the key posts of President, two Vice Presidents, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer, and 11 members of the Executive Committee.
The nomination window remains open daily from 10 am to 4 pm until July 24. Following scrutiny, the final list of candidates will be announced on July 31. Voting is scheduled for Independence Day, August 15.
Prominent industry names, including Kunchacko Boban, are already being speculated for the top post of President. Of the 11 seats on the Executive Committee, four are reserved for women, while all other positions, including President, are general category.
As per AMMA’s guidelines, only life members with no pending dues as of March 31 and who do not hold posts in other organizations are eligible to contest. The stage is now set for what promises to be an engaging and closely watched election in the Malayalam film fraternity.
In June, actor Mohanlal, who previously served as AMMA’s president, declined to stand for re-election if a vote is held to appoint new office bearers. This development came after the ad hoc committee, formed following internal upheavals in 2024, recommended that Mohanlal continue as the head of the organisation. At AMMA’s earlier general body meeting on May 31, 2025, the committee had strongly backed his continuation in the primary role.
