Edathua: The complaint of a plus two student who stated that five men gang raped her on the way back home is allegedly a lie to avoid going to school. Police reported that the girl had become an addict of online games due to continuous use of smartphones. The girl insisted that she will not attend classes after hearing the news of school reopening. But her parents forced the girl to return the mobile and attend school.
For two years, the girl always had the mobile phone in hand even when eating food and while sleeping. When she felt that the phone would be taken away from her after classes resume offline, she was pissed. This agony might have led the girl to plot a story over rape.
The girl told her parents that a group of five men had raped her while returning back from school. The parents lodged a complaint at the police station and the police inspected the spot, collected CCTV footage and recorded the statement of the locals too.
From the beginning of the investigation, the police have noted the contradictions in the statements given by the complainant. When the police interrogated the men whom the girl accused, they were reportedly not in the alleged spot at that time. No evidence of any assault was obtained after conducting a medical examination of the girl. The police is conducting further probe to find out whether anyone had urged the girl to make false accusation of rape.
