Thiruvananthapuram: The second accused in the sensational AKG Center attack case was apprehended from Delhi International Airport on Tuesday.

Suhail Shahjahan, a known associate of KPCC president K Sudhakaran, was arrested at the airport after returning from abroad.

Suhail, who had been avoiding arrest since the incident, had a lookout notice issued against him. Authorities detained him upon his arrival at Delhi airport. A team from the Kerala Crime Branch is being dispatched to Delhi to bring him back to Thiruvananthapuram for further legal proceedings.

Earlier, two arrests had been made in connection with the bombing. Jithin, who carried out the bombing, and T Navya, who assisted him, were identified as Youth Congress members. Investigations have indicated that Suhail Shahjahan orchestrated and planned the attack on the AKG Center.

Suhail's close ties to K Sudhakaran have come under scrutiny, with photographs of the two together circulating widely.

A bomb was hurled at the AKG centre, state headquarters of CPM on June 30 around 11.30 pm. The CCTV visuals showed a man reaching the spot on a two-wheeler and hurling the explosives at the AKG centre. Crime Branch took over the probe into the case after the local police failed to identify the accused.

A case was registered with the Cantonment police station on July 1 in this regard under Section 436 of the Indian Penal Code (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy a house, etc.) and Section 3(a) of the Explosive Substances Act (causing an explosion likely to endanger life or property).
